Ratapinata, India ink on book page (Artaud), 21 x 13 cm, 2025
A bat soaring over a text by Artaud. No risk of it getting caught in your hair, although…
Unique work
Description
I have always loved bats. When my father used to go caving, he took part in programs to preserve their habitat. In Nice, we have pipistrelles and European free-tailed bats: that’s the Ratapinata!
In India, I saw giant ones in a primary bamboo forest. The one I have drawn here is a flying fox. It flies over a text by Artaud that speaks precisely of troglodyte caves, ruins, and magic. This India ink drawing is mounted on Canson paper and showcased in a brushed black aluminum Nielsen frame.
