Description
Across a map of the South African coast, I drew an offshore oil rig—a kind of maritime cathedral of the apocalypse. Halfway between a technical engraving and a contemporary "Vanitas," this steel structure sharply contrasts with the tranquil nature of the cartography.
This drawing served as the foundation for a monumental laser-cut piece on a 3-meter-wide weathering steel (Corten) plate (visible in the section... Gravures & structures).
