Le Steve Irwin

Description

I drew the Steve Irwin, Sea Shepherd's flagship, over a map of the South African coast, specifically Cape Agulhas. Rendered in India ink, the iconic vessel of the marine ecosystem defense organization imposes the massive presence of a war machine upon the map’s colonial outlines. Brutality becomes the only possible response to the extreme violence of ocean exploitation, made possible by an abyssal political vacuum. The chart chosen here represents an area of the world where Sea Shepherd has conducted numerous campaigns: the South African coast, from Table Bay to Cape Agulhas.
