Le Sphinx imposes a monumental presence, a frontal scene where the figures seem suspended out of time.
Neither entirely human nor fully animal, they embody a threshold: that of secret and metamorphosis. The charcoal, worked to an extreme density, makes the faces emerge from the shadows like apparitions.
At the center of this silence, a butterfly—fragile and spectral—overhangs the whole. A symbol of passage or a mute threat, it vibrates against the massive immobility of the bodies.
