Description

This original ink drawing depicts the HMM Algeciras, flagship of the South Korean HMM fleet and one of the largest container ships ever built. Here, it is transposed onto an antique nautical chart of Indochina, between Pointe Ké Gà and Cape Padaran — a historic zone where the currents of the past seem to converse with today’s maritime routes.

Each line is drawn by hand, using a hatching technique inspired by traditional engraving. The monumental volumes of the cargo ship collide with the delicate precision of nautical surveys, creating a visual tension between geopolitics, global trade, and colonial memory.
