A monumental cargo ship, escorted by its two pilot boats, shatters the Indochinese coastline between Pointe Ké Gà and Cape Padaran.

Description

South Korea is about more than just K-pop and Squid Game: it is also home to giant container ships worthy of science fiction films. This one, the HMM Algeciras, is rendered in India ink on a map of the Indochinese coast. It advances through an estuary, guided by two pilot vessels.

I drew every container and every detail of this sea monster in India ink—the flagship of a globalized trade that crushes colonial cartography.
