Franck Saïssi’s work is rooted in the great tradition of painting, though it would be easy — and perhaps reductive — to confine it to that lineage.
A restless artist, Franck Saïssi has a deep, passionate relationship with painting — a practice that helps him structure his life, bring order to it, and ward off the doubts and anxieties that regularly assail him, and which are reflected in the themes he explores.
gives meaning to his life — a vital need he practices daily, filling a kind of inner void.
A bottomless well that an entire lifetime will likely never fill — hence the prolific output that overflows from one studio to the next, none of them ever quite large enough.
The theme of travel prevails in his work: geographical travel, imaginary journeys, and above all, inner voyages — travel, here, as a synonym for escape.
La Maison Abandonnée presents the work of Franck Saïssi from March 13 to April 17, 2021.
His work will then be available to view in his studio in Nice by appointment.
