Contention: il y a les territoires abandonnés, et il y a les gens oubliés. Dans cette peinture, j’ai voulu rapprocher les deux, comme pour augmenter le sentiment d’abandon, de cruauté qu’une société contemporaine inflige encore. Fantomatiques, lancinantes, les nuances de gris deviennent acérées, tranchantes, métalliques.  La lumière vient baigner la scène comme un linceul.

There are abandoned territories, and there are forgotten people. In this painting, I wanted to bring the two together, as if to increase the feeling of abandonment, of cruelty that a contemporary society still inflicts. Ghostly, haunting, the shades of gray become sharp, metallic. Light bathes the scene like a shroud.
